FILM SEMINAR: SHORT FILM IN FLANDERS

At this two-day seminar, organised by Sint-Lukas in Brussels (Roel Vande Winkel) and KHLim (Leen Engelen), a number of professionals shed light on short film in Flanders. We will hear from Johan Van Schaeren, driving force behind the festival, and directors Wannes Destoop (‘We Are So Happy’, ‘Badpakje 46’) and Hans Van Nuffel (‘Nachtraven’, ‘Adem’). Finally, the Flemish Audiovisual Fund will present its VAF Wildcards for promising movie talent.

SMartBE WORKSHOP: BUSINESS ADVICE FOR FILM PROFESSIONALS

As an active film professional, you are bound to work for different organisations and at irregular times. You are especially focused on your film project, but of course the administrative and business side of things matters too. In this workshop, SMartBE clarifies the business side of artistic work. Filmhistorian and lecturer Roel Vande Winkel (Sint-Lukas Brussels, University of Antwerp) will give a compact lecture, illustrated with fragments, in which he talks about the history of short film and explains the most important trends and movements. THE ‘FAN’ IN FINANCING: A SESSION ON CROWDFUNDING

You are new to the audiovisual industry, have a neat idea and want to put together a budget as soon as you can. What do you do when traditional ways of financing turn out to be depleted or overburdened? Crowdfunding could be an interesting alternative. MEDIA Desk, VAF and SACD / De Auteurs brought together a number of representatives of platforms who will discuss European case studies.

Masterclass Richard Raskin: Story Design in Short Fiction Film
1 PM – 3 PM
Richard Raskin, an authority in short film and lecturer at the Danish University of Arhus, will present a number of atypical guidelines for developing short fiction film scripts. After his presentation, there is time for Q&A.
