Film & Music
Wonder what happens when you unleash music therapy students on three short films? The result is not only a visual tour de force, but also an impressive live experience. Both live-action short films and animated films serve as the backdrop for this year's film concert in collaboration with LUCA School of Arts. Immerse yourself in the live accompaniment and enjoy an evening of film and music.

Benshi narration
In the 1920s, the real stars of Japanese cinema were not so much the actors on the screen, rather the benshi was in the foreground. That is a professional voice actor who performs live narration and interprets dialogues from films. In collaboration with Prof. Jan Schmidt (KUL) and renowned benshi Ichirō Kataoka, one of the greats of his generation, this age-old tradition comes to Kortfilmfestival Leuven. Kataoka will live narrate three Japanese short films from the 1920s. Titles such as Blood Splattered Takadanobaba and The Story of the Monkey King promise a spectacular evening.

Niels Orens
Where electronic music and visual art intersect, that's where you'll find Niels Orens. With enormous curiosity, the artist seeks cohesion between acoustic and electronic, emotion and colour, rhythm and bass. His unique sound is reminiscent of Max Cooper and Massive Attack, but please don't put him in a box. A performance by Niels Orens is right at the intersection of music, technology and visual art.
