Flemish Competition: Fiction
For years, the Flemish Fiction Competition has been predicting which names will fill Belgian screens in the very near future. Earlier this year, Kato De Boeck and Flo Van Deuren received rave reviews for the second season of Roomies, following well-received short films at the festival in 2018. Cato Kusters came to Leuven back in 2022 with Finn’s heel and recently sent her moving feature-length debut Julian into theatres. The Flemish Fiction Programmes take visual risks and delve into both seemingly banal discussions and the major themes of our time. From friends in a swimming pool, to mothers in the mud and a boy in chain mail, this year even the sci-fi lovers will be pleased.
