Sunspring
Oscar Sharp • United States • 2016 • 9 min.
Back in 2016, filmmaker Oscar Sharp and his technologist collaborator Ross Goodwin developed an AI tool that could write a film script completely autonomously. They named him Jetson and fuelled him with hundreds of sci-fi TV and film scripts. Jetson soon decided he preferred to be called Benjamin. Filmmaker Sharp managed to organise a cast and crew who would shoot Benjamin’s screenplay no matter what it looked like. The result is a bizarre but extremely intriguing short film.
